Deer Eikthyrnir
Eikthyrnir is a stag in Norse mythology. He stands on the
roof of Valhalla and gnaws on the branches of the L’rad tree.
In both the Song and Prose Edda it says: “Of his horned antlers
it drips to Hvergelmir. This is where all the currents come from.”
The name Eikthyrnir, Old Norse Eikþyrnir, is made up of Old Norse
eik oak, (large) tree‘ and a second ingredient, which is mostly in
connection with Old Norse þorn ‚dorn‘ is seen.
