Yggdrasil, Old Norse Yggdrasill, also: Weltesche, is in the Nordic mythology
The name of an ash, which as a world tree embodies the entire cosmos. Other
Names of this tree were probably Mimameid or Lärad.
Yggdrasil has three large Roots, one of which grows to Jotunheim, the land of
the giants, where also Mimirs wells.The other root leads to Niflheim to the source
Hvergelmir, Where the dragon Nidhöggr gnaws at her. The third root is near
Asgard.
